Dubai today: dated facts

What the records show. A regional conflict began on 28 February 2026. Air traffic, tourism and sales fell in the spring. Since March the published figures rise each month. Government travel advice still calls the region unpredictable. Checked 17 October 2026.

Independent checks: the project and developer in the Dubai Land Department register, the broker's licence and advertising permit number, and payment only into the project escrow account.

Questions from buyers in Canada

Can Canadian citizens buy property in Dubai?

Yes. Foreign nationals, Canadian citizens included, can own freehold homes in Dubai's designated freehold areas.

How much is needed to start buying a Dubai home from Canada?

The booking payment on a new home starts from about AED 26,350 (about CAD 10,200). The Dubai Land Department fee of 4% of the price is usually paid at the start too.

Is a trip to Dubai needed to buy off-plan?

No. Off-plan bookings are paid by international bank transfer. The sales agreement can be signed remotely or through a Power of Attorney.

Where does the money go?

Payments for a home still being built go into the project's escrow account, registered with the Dubai Land Department. The developer draws on it as construction moves forward.

Can the home be rented out once it is finished?

Yes. The UAE charges no personal income tax. Tax in the home country may still apply.

Is a bank loan needed?

Not while the home is being built. The developer's payment plan spreads the price over the build. A loan can be arranged for the payment due at the end.
